Advancing Local Capacity Through The NOGICD Act

Over fourteen years after the enactment of the NOGICD Act, Nigeria’s oil and gas sector has achieved a notable local content level of 61%. This progress stems from investments in human capacity, local services, and the manufacturing of goods within the country. The Nigerian Content Seminar, organised with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), serves as a platform for stakeholders to understand the NOGICD Act and its wide-ranging opportunities. Through open deliberation, government and industry leaders explore how effective implementation of the Act can unlock the nation’s potential. The Seminar encourages delegates to champion in-country capacity utilisation, fostering sustainable development for Nigeria. By strengthening partnerships and local expertise, the Seminar supports a future where Nigeria’s resources and talent drive growth in the oil and gas industry.

"Contrary to misconceptions, local content doesn’t drive up project costs; it creates the foundation for sustainable growth. A nation that seeks energy suciency must build its energy future from within. This means deepening local capacity across the entire oil and gas value chain, from exploration and production to processing and final delivery.

By doing so, we retain economic value within our borders, minimise supply disruptions, create jobs, and take meaningful steps toward a more secure and self-reliant energy future."
